Publication about Photorespiration

A team of researchers led by CEPLAS member Ute Armbruster (HHU) has investigated whether photorespiration protects against fluctuating light.

Experimental results with different light scenarios (columns) and different Arabidopsis variants in which photorespiratory enzymes are switched off. To the right of the plant images is a reduced schematic of photorespiration, which explains the low growth of the GGT1 mutants in constant light by a photorespiratory metabolic pathway in the chloroplast.

Researchers from the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam and the University of Potsdam as well as from Michigan State University in East Lansing were involved in the project. The results were published in the scientific journal "Nature Communications".
