International Day of Women and Girls in Science

2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science! Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, this day celebrates the contributions of women in science worldwide and promotes gender equality in the field.

To honor this occasion, we asked three of our female scientists at CEPLAS to share their perspectives on the significance of this day and why advancing women in science remains essential.

Their statements are in line with the core of CEPLAS’ commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion: closing the gender gap in science requires a multifaceted approach. This involves removing systemic barriers and creating inclusive environments through policy changes, and actively challenging stereotypes and biases. At the same time, targeted support measures, such as mentorship programs and strong professional networks, play a crucial role in paving the way for future generations of women in science.
