Research Focus
The genus Verticillium harbors soil-borne pathogens that cause detrimental vascular wilt disease in various plant species, including economically important crops. To establish a successful infection, these fungi must access the plant vasculature, which is safeguarded by endodermal barriers. These barriers are crucial for regulating water and nutrient transport while serving as a defense mechanism against pathogen invasion. My project aims to uncover how Verticillium manipulates the formation of endodermal barriers to facilitate host invasion.
