Research Focus

The project is embedded in the framework of an HFSP collaboration project with Prof. Dr. Teva Vernoux ENS Lyon, Dr. Siobhan Brady, UC, Davis and Dr. Richard Smith, John Innes Centre. The aim is to take advantage of the reduced complexity of the Physcomitrium patens single-cell apical meristem to obtain insides into the mechanisms underlying the self-organised 4D patterning resulting in plant phyllotaxis. In particular, my project deals with three main aspects towards the implementation of optogenetic systems in Physcomitrium patens to be able to manipulate Phyllotactic patterning.
