The pipecolate metabolic pathway plays a crucial role in the activation of systemic acquired resistance in the plant shoot, but its function in roots is unknown. My project will investigate the interplay between root-associated microorganisms and plants on the basis of complementary, pipecolate pathway-related metabolic activities of these interaction partners.
