Research Focus
I am interested in how plants survive in unusual environments, such as deserts. We all know that water is essential to sustain life, so how do the desert species live when it rains only a couple times a year? Late Embryogenesis Abundant proteins have long been hypothesized as key components of desiccation tolerance phenotype, but the mechanistic understanding of their role in it is still lacking. I use Arabidopsis thaliana and desiccation-tolerant Craterostigma plantagineum as models to study these proteins, their regulation, and mechanisms of action.
