Dr. Cristina Marí Carmona

My research will focus on how trans-acting proteins, such as transcription factors, interact with cis-regulatory elements like enhancers and silencers to drive their activity. To this end, I will use Plant STARR-seq, a massively parallel reporter assay, to determine in a single experiment what sequences are bound by a given transcription factor, whether this binding event activates or represses transcription and to what extent.
