Research Focus
Anooshay Khan’s project aims to harness plant-derived proteins to combat neurodegenerative diseases by understanding how they prevent harmful protein aggregation. The research has two main goals: first, to screen for proteins that can inhibit aggregation linked to these diseases, and second, to engineer plants with greater resistance to stress conditions like heat shock, where aggregation also occurs. By combining synthetic biology and proteomics, the project seeks to develop innovative, plant-based therapies while uncovering fundamental mechanisms of stress resilience in plants.
