Early Career Researchers awarded prizes

Svenja Augustin and Sebastian Triesch received prizes from the German Society for Plant Sciences.

Svenja Augustin received the SciComm Award 2024 for her dialogue about the chances of genome editing. Professor Stefan Rensing, speaker for the Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology Section within the German Society for Plant Sciences, awarded her the prize and highlighted her commitment to communicating complex scientific findings about genes, former and modern genome editing techniques in dialogue setting. She is doctoral researcher at the Institute of Developmental Genetics (HHU). She is involved in “Öko-Progressives Netzwerk”, has already explained green genetic engineering on several TV programs and is a co-initiator of the "#GiveGenesAChance" campaign.

Sebstian Triesch was awarded the Reinhold von Sengbusch Best Talk Award for his presentation "Single-cell sequencing of C3-C4 intermediate Brassicaceae species". Since 2010, the section awards excellent oral papers held by young scientists. Sebastian is doctoral researcher at the Institute of Plant Biochemistry (HHU).
