CEPLAS Postdoc Ernesto Llamas won second place in the BioRiverBoost! 2023 start-up competition for life science founders!

Last Friday CEPLAS Postdoc Ernesto Llamas (Zuccaro lab, University of Cologne) won second place in the BioRiverBoost! 2023 start-up competition for life science founders which took place at the Bayer CropScience campus in Monheim.

The idea of the project team is to use plant-derived synthetic enzymes to cure neurogenerative diseases caused by protein aggregation.

The BioRiver Boost! Competition is an annual European Start-up competition with a jury including representatives of various, globally operating life science groups based in the Rhineland, including Bayer, Miltenyi Biotec, Qiagen, Lonza, High-Tech Gründerfonds, and NRW.BANK.

The three winning teams of the competition are awarded with coaching from experienced entrepreneurs, expert marketing support and access to the BioRiver network.
