As sessile organisms, plants need to integrate environmental and endogenous signals and respond quickly and appropriately. The first part of this response is handled via protein-protein interactions between phytohormone signalling dependent factors leading to fast changes in protein expression. In my project, I want to decipher these protein-protein interaction networks by building an AI model and testing its predictions both in mammalian reconstructed systems, as well as Arabidopsis thaliana plants. Once these networks are understood in more detail, we can modify them to generate desired phenotypes.
