Workshops offered at all four CEPLAS partner institutions are open to CEPLAS doctoral and postdoctoral researchers (subject to space availability). Please see as well our course archive, as several of the courses will be offered annually.
Below are examples of upcoming courses. These are allocated to core competencies expected of graduate researchers and postdocs, based on definitions from the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA). You are encouraged to learn more about the core competencies and explore related resources.

Individual statistical consultation: If you are facing statistical or bioinformatic problems you can always contact the Center for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics (CBiBs) for individual consultation. Please write an E-Mail to CBiBs and ask for a consultation date. CEPLAS will cover the costs that might be charged.

Robert Hoffie (“Forscher Robert” on Twitter) will report on his experiences on social media during a 1-hour time slot. Time for questions!

TOPIC
Which channels can I use for science communication? And how? Getting to know different online formats and best practice examples. Where do I start? Which topics are suitable? How can I talk about my topics? How can I present my topics? How do I build up a profile? Which strategy will enable me to maintain my profile in the long term and sustainably? How can I deal with hateful comments?
Participants will develop a brief concept for their own profile on social media and create initial posts for their own research.
SCHEDULE
The workshop lasts one day and takes place from 9am to 5pm at HHU in Düsseldorf. The number of participants is limited to 12. The participants will receive a certificate when passing the whole module.
FOR WHOM
The workshop is targeted to CEPLAS young scientists. Everyone is welcome to join the workshop, and no previous knowledge is required.
MEET THE TRAINER
Johanna Barnbeck studied cultural analysis and artistic research in Amsterdam, at the Rijksmuseum she led an artistic research project. She currently works as a freelance creative consultant for academia. In this role she develops strategies and creative formats for research projects, universities and research institutions and supports them in the implementation of the concepts. Johanna Barnbeck is on the jury for the Fast Forward Science award and was nominated for the Young Academy in 2018.
