Agriculture of the future is facing numerous challenges: an increasing need for food products due to population growth, changing climate conditions implicating an adjustment of cultivation conditions, sustainable production to protect and conserve resources and changing requirements for the quality of food and plant raw materials.
Plant sciences can contribute towards a sensible and responsible management of resources. However, agricultural value chains and the quality of food are discussed controversially in politics and society. Therefore CEPLAS seeks dialogue with policy makers and stakeholders and informs about latest developments, methods and results from plant research and the arising opportunities to cope with agricultural challenges of tomorrow.
Our activities include personal exchange with politicians at various levels, contributions to political conferences and statements on various topics. Furthermore, we offer information material, e.g. about new breeding methods and provide contact to experts from different fields of plant sciences.
