My main research interest covers two areas:
Although these topics seem quite distant, the common ground is photosynthesis. I am currently leading the computational side of the DFG project in a collaboration with Prof. Alain Tissier (Leibniz Institute for Plant Biochemistry, Halle) where we are studying the highly efficient production of secondary metabolites by glandular trichomes inside the tomato. One of the research aims, relevant for the work conducted within CEPLAS, is to understand the mechanisms that integrate development and metabolism. In particular, we would like to answer the question of what are the adaptive metabolic strategies that support high metabolic fluxes?
