Research Focus

The main aim of my postdoc project is to engineer broad resistance of indica rice to bacterial and fungal pathogens via elimination of susceptibility (S) genes, e.g. sugar transporter-encoding genes. For the purposes of this project, novel genome editing tools and advanced breeding methods, e.g. transgene-free genome editing, embryo rescue, protoplast regeneration, haploid induction, and pigment-based selection markers, are developed and deployed.
