Research Focus

Floral transition, which involves the switch from vegetative development to flowering, is the first step in plant reproduction, and is tightly regulated to ensure reproductive success. Based on experimental evidence, complex gene regulatory networks that control the timing of floral transition in response to environmental and endogenous factors have been defined. Within CEPLAS, I am particularly interested in understanding how microRNAs are related to the morphological changes that occur in the shoot apical meristem during the transition to flowering in the model species Arabidopsis thaliana. I am testing a range of inducible transgenes for their effects on gene expression, meristem morphology and floral transition.
