Research Focus
Climate change increases the risk of drought. Drought directly alters water transport in plant xylems by inducing a lignification of the secondary cell wall. We simulate the water transport within a 3D reconstruction of plant xylem, whose boundary chemical properties are tuned owing to simulations of water-lignin interactions and xylem lignification. We compare our results to experimental transport properties measured by collaborators.
