Research Focus
My past research on the physiological mechanisms regulating plant water-balance in response to specific abiotic and biotic conditions, at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, has laid a robust foundation. Now, I am set to broaden my research horizon, venturing into the complex dynamics of plasmodesmata (PD), and post-translational modification-mediated PD gating.
This current work provides new possible explanations for the mechanisms underlying translocation of cargo proteins through PD, analogous to translocation through the nuclear pore complex (NPC). The main goal of my project is to gain new insights into the concerted regulation of cell-cell conductivity via PD in response to cytosolic water availability.
