Of the 24 working groups from all over Germany who have been granted funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG) for the second phase of the SPP 2125 Deconstruction and Reconstruction of the Plant Microbiota “DECRyPT” research group, nine are situated at two CEPLAS institutions: the University of Cologne and Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research. The overall consortium of “DECRyPT” aims at obtaining a deeper and more predictive understanding of plant-microbiota associations and developing pioneering reductionist approaches towards a molecular understanding of plant microbiota functions. Coordination of this SPP is led by Alga Zuccaro who is also Coordinator of Research Area 2 in CEPLAS. The SPP includes groups from Munich, Tübingen, Cologne, Bonn, Halle and Zürich, covers 18 different projects and in this second phase provides funding for a period of three years.

Here is the publication "The fungal root endophyte Serendipita vermifera displays inter-kingdom synergistic beneficial effects with the microbiota in Arabidopsis thaliana and barley" as an example of cooperative work among several SPP groups.
