16/07/2020

Peter Westhoff informs about the important role of plant breeding in the bioeconomy.

As part of the series " Zukunft Bioökonomie? – Ansätze, Sichtweisen und Perspektiven der Bioökonomie " Peter Westhoff guided two groups of interested visitors through the Botanical Garden. The CEPLAS member explained the influence of plant breeding on our crops and the role it can play in the development towards a bioeconomy. Despite the uncomfortable weather, the visitors were not kept away from many questions when, for example, the Milpa cultivation system was discussed.

The event series is a cooperation of the Bürgeruniversität of the University Düsseldorf, the Cluster of Excellence on Plant Sciences CEPLAS, the Wissenschaftsladen Bonn e. V. and the Kulturwissenschaftliches Institut Essen.
