Girl’s Day in CEPLAS lab

At this year's Girl's Day, Guido Grossmann gave female students an insight into scientific work.

On Girl's Day this year, the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf once again informed female students about scientific and technical professions. CEPLAS participated in the event together with Guido Grossmann and his laboratory group. First, the female students from grades 9 and 10 received an overview of the various preparatory and experimental steps in the laboratory during their two-hour visit. They were then introduced to the FIJI software, which can perform manual and automated measurements on plants. The girls were able to follow how the size of plants was measured on photos they had taken themselves at home. Finally, they learned about ways to use this software to expose image fakes on the Internet.
