CEPLAS Graduiertenschule

Die CEPLAS Graduiertenschule bietet ein 4-5-jähriges, strukturiertes Promotionsprogramm im Bereich molekularer Pflanzenwissenschaften, Pflanzengenetik, Pflanze-Mikroben Interaktionen, synthetischer und quantitativer Biologie sowie der Bioinformatik an. Das Programm wird gemeinsam mit den Universitäten Düsseldorf und Köln, dem Max-Planck-Institut für Pflanzenzüchtungsforschung in Köln und dem Forschungszentrum Jülich organisiert und führt Studierende mit abgeschlossenem Bachelorstudium durch eine einmalige Qualifikationsphase bis zur Promotion. Promotionskandidat*innen gehören einer der CEPLAS Arbeitsgruppen an und bearbeiten dort ein Forschungsthema im Rahmen des CEPLAS Forschungsprogramms. Zudem profitieren Mitglieder der CEPLAS Graduiertenschule vom umfassenden Qualifikationsangebot, das ihre wissenschaftliche Karriereentwicklung fördert.

Die CEPLAS Graduiertenschule bietet:

ein ansprechendes Forschungsumfeld mit dem Fokus auf pflanzenwissenschaftliche Themen
Promotionsprojekte zu den Themen Molekularbiologie, Biochemie, Genetik, pflanzliche Entwicklungsbiologie, Pflanze-Mikroben-Interkationen, Bioinformatik und synthetische Biologie, basierend auf (computergestützten und) aktuellen Technologien und Methoden
umfassendes Qualifikationsangebot in Wissenschaft und Schlüsselkompetenzen während einer 1-jährigen Qualifikationsphase, inklusive Vorlesungen, praktischer Übungen und Laborrotationen
umfassende Unterstützung bei der Karriereplanung und -entwicklung und Kontakt zu verschiedenen, potenziellen Berufszweigen
Finanzierung für bis zu fünf Jahren
zusätzliche Mittel für die Teilnahme an Konferenzen oder Workshops

Finanzierung

Während der 1-jährigen Qualifikationsphase erhalten Studierende der CEPLAS Graduiertenschule ein Stipendium in Höhe von 934 € pro Monat. In der Promotionsphase erhalten CEPLAS Doktorand*innen einen Arbeitsvertrag für bis zu vier Jahren vergütet nach den Tarifbestimmungen des Öffentlichen Dienstes (E12/E13, inklusive Kranken-, Arbeitslosenversicherung u.a.). Die Finanzierung ist leistungsabhänging. Studierende, die in der Qualifikationsphase scheitern (z.B. weil sie die Subject Modules nicht adäquat bestehen), können außerhalb der CEPLAS Graduiertenschule fortfahren und ihren Masterabschluss absolvieren.

Es fallen keine Studiengebühren für die CEPLAS Graduiertenschule an. Die Einschreibegebühr an der Universität beträgt ca. 315 € pro Semester und beinhaltet die kostenlose Nutzung des Nahverkehrs in Nordrhein-Westfalen.

During the one-year qualification phase I have acquired theoretical knowledge on topics within CEPLAS research areas. I have also been exposed to various experimental techniques through the lab rotations in form of internships. Additionally, the monthly early career researchers’ seminars have offered me a platform for productive exchanges and networking with other multi-diverse scientists as I grow into a scientific career."

"I am very happy to be part of the CEPLAS Gradschool,especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since we are only a small number of students the lectures are very interactive and we get into close contact with CEPLAS PIs. Through this, I learned a lot theory about Plant Biology as well as numerous methods to answer scientific questions. Another thing I like about the cluster is the multidisciplinary character of many projects within CEPLAS. These are based on numerous collaborations between CEPLAS labs, mediating a high exchange of scientific ideas."
