Developmental basis for asexual reproduction in Cardamine
The aim of this project is to understand the developmental and genetic basis for evolution of propagules in plants of the genus Cardamine. A specific hypothesis tested will be that expression of certain shoot apical meristem genes in compound leaves contributes to vegetative propagules forming if other genetic changes also occur. The applicant will use molecular biology, transgenic approaches, VIGS and biological imaging methodologies.
Keywords expertise: molecular genetics, plant genomics, comparative transcriptome analyses, high through-put phenotyping, abiotic stress physiology
