In silico studies of photosynthesis
In this project I develop further theoretical tools to study the photosynthetic self-regulation of higher plants to changes in light intensities. By connecting ”light reactions” with the dynamic description of the Calvin-Benson-Bassham (CBB) Cycle, we can investigate the tight regulation between the energy supplied by the photosynthetic electron transport chain and the CBB cycle demand. My interest lies in the role of existing mechanisms, such as alternative electron transport pathways, in the regulation and maintenance of ”vital” ATP to NADPH ratio.
