Research Focus

The symbiosis between fungi and green algae encompasses a wide range of different behaviours and interactions, from mutualism and commensalism to pathogenicity and predation. However, little is known about the molecular processes occurring between these two organisms during these types of interactions. In particular, hardly anything is known about fungal pathogens of algae, and their behaviour and methods of infection have not yet been characterized. In my PhD, I will focus on identifying and characterizing the role of fungal-secreted molecules during interactions with algal cells.
