Research Focus

Plants, as sessile organisms, need to integrate their metabolic status with developmental decisions for optimal growth. An important target of regulation is the allocation of nutrients (photoassimilates, amino acids) from source to sink tissues. However, the signaling systems regulating the resource allocation between source and sink tissues during seed filling remain elusive.

Within CEPLAS, we aim to identify the communication systems required for the logistics between leaves and seeds. We focus on transport processes at the contact site of maternal and filial generation using spatially resolved transcriptomics as well as focusing on bidirectional communication signals in the vasculature.
